about the creator
My story begins in The Netherlands. During the first 3 decades of my life, Holland was my home. So you might understand my love for tulips, or really,
any flower for that matter. In Holland it is very common to go to the Saturday flower market and pick up numerous flower bundles for the price of next to nothing. Once home, several vases are filled with colorful flowers
and displayed for the week. We call that "gezellig" ( cozy ). Also having houseplants in the window sills is the norm. The Dutch frequently use
sayings like: " sitting behind the geraniums" and " taking the flowers outside".
I moved to the USA in 2001 and developed a love for all things gardening. Because the weekly flower markets were no longer a 5 minute bicycle ride away, I started exploring unique ways of displaying a variety of plants to feed my inner need for creating artistic works.
In 2016 I started selling my creations at local farmers markets and doing commission and custom works. I'm in the process of setting up a web-shop and inquiries from regional retailers interested in carrying my creations are welcome. You can also contact me If you'd like to host my kokedama workshop.
